Two-component, fiber-reinforced and polymer-modified thick bitumen coating (PMB) developed for waterproofing earth-contact components.
The 2K thick bitumen coating is suitable for waterproofing floor slabs and walls of earth-contact components against soil moisture, non-pressurized and perched water in accordance with the requirements of DIN 18533 and DIN 15814. Furthermore, the coating can be used in the interior of basement rooms or non-basement buildings against rising moisture. Its composition makes it particularly suitable for new construction and renovation measures.
The 2K thick bitumen coating is characterized by its high elasticity and crack-bridging properties, even at low temperatures. It remains permanently flexible and resistant to mechanical stress and temperature fluctuations, making it a durable waterproofing solution. Its exceptional heat and aging resistance ensures long-lasting protection.
The chemical reaction of the two components creates a particularly stable, abrasion-resistant and fast-drying waterproofing layer that is water-repellent after a short time. The fiber-reinforced structure additionally improves mechanical resilience and allows application in high layer thicknesses without sagging.
The product adheres reliably to mineral and bituminous substrates. Thanks to its thixotropic consistency, the compound can be processed evenly with a trowel, spatula or float. The waterproofing can be applied with or without reinforcement layer and flexibly adapts to the respective requirements of the construction project.
The 2K thick bitumen coating is solvent-free, environmentally friendly and low-odor. It is ideally suited for applications in building and civil engineering, especially for the renovation and waterproofing of floor slabs, wall connections and earth-contact components. Its ability to apply thick layers in one pass reduces work effort and ensures fast and reliable execution.
The substrate must be load-bearing, clean and free of loose components, oils or fats. Before application, larger depressions, open butt joints and unevenness should be leveled with suitable mortar or a scratch coating. Edges must be chamfered and grooves rounded to ensure uniform layer thickness. Thorough cleaning of the substrate ensures that the thick bitumen coating adheres optimally.
For better bonding with the substrate, the sandroplast emulsion primer (solvent-free) is required. This improves adhesion and facilitates processing, especially on highly absorbent or porous substrates. Smooth or highly compacted surfaces should be mechanically roughened to optimize the connection between substrate and coating. Processing may only take place on sufficiently dry surfaces to ensure perfect waterproofing.
The recommended processing temperature is between +5 °C and +30 °C. At lower temperatures, the drying time can be significantly extended, while high temperatures can shorten the processing time. Direct sunlight and high humidity during application should be avoided.
Before processing, the emulsion is briefly stirred with an electric mixer. Then the reaction component is added and the mixture is intensively homogenized for approx. 2-3 minutes until a lump-free mass is created. The processing time at 20 °C is about one hour.
Application is carried out in at least two coats with or without reinforcement layer. For waterproofing against perched water, a reinforcement layer must be worked into the first, dried coat. In the area of the floor/wall connection with protruding floor slab, the coating must be extended beyond the face of the floor slab.
During work interruptions, the compound is feathered out. When resuming, an overlap is made. Work interruptions at building corners, grooves or edges should be avoided. Moisten tools before use and clean immediately after processing with water.
For normally absorbent substrates, a primer can be omitted if the surface is load-bearing, evenly absorbent and dust-free. Highly absorbent or sandy surfaces must be pretreated with sandroplast primer emulsion (solvent-free).
A drying time of 3-6 hours should be maintained between individual coats, depending on temperature and humidity. Complete curing of the overall coating takes place under standard conditions (20 °C / 50% rH) in about 3 days. During this time, the coating must be protected from mechanical stress and moisture.
Consumption varies depending on water impact class: W1-E and W4-E: 4.30 kg/m² at 3mm. W2.1-E (pressurized water <3m) and W3-E (post-pressurized water): 5.8 kg/m² at 4mm. Scratch coating: 1-2 kg/m². According to DIN 18533 Part 3, the minimum dry layer thickness must be increased by at least 25%.
