Product Type

Thin, solvent-based, low-odor silo bitumen hardener. Reactive component for sandroplast bitumen silo coating.

Application Area

The sandroplast bitumen hardener is an innovative reactive component specially developed for the chemical curing of bitumen coatings. This HIGH END PRODUCT is used in combination with the sandroplast bitumen silo coating. Adding the hardener significantly reduces the drying and curing time of bitumen coatings. In addition, the stability of the coated surfaces is increased up to threefold and improved acid protection is ensured.

A special advantage of the sandroplast bitumen hardener is its ability to prevent silage adhesion. This is of crucial importance for agricultural applications where clean and efficient storage of silage is essential.

Properties

The sandroplast silo bitumen hardener is a first-class additive for silo coating, which achieves significantly higher strength and shorter drying time through combination with the two-component coating. The bitumen hardener mixed with the silo coating requires 6 to 12 hours to cure, and the silo can be filled after 3 to 4 days. Developed for use in and on silos and other industrial surfaces, this protective coating ensures excellent adhesion on various substrates and offers a reliable, permanent connection.

A special advantage of the silo bitumen hardener is that the sandroplast silo coating becomes up to three times more resistant with the addition of the hardener and does not soften due to solar radiation or the heat developed in the feed stock.

The mixture of silo bitumen hardener and silo coating can be applied using different application methods, enabling flexible and easy application.

The coating is resistant to diluted alkalis and acids, making it ideal for environments where chemical resistance is required. The coating is also free from harmful substances such as phenol and PCB, making it safe for both the user and the environment.

In summary, the sandroplast silo bitumen hardener as an additive to the sandroplast silo coating improves the strength and drying time of silo coatings. It requires 6 to 12 hours to cure, and silos or other substrates can be filled after 3 to 4 days. The hardener provides a significantly robust, resistant and chemically stable coating that is easy to process and free from harmful substances.

Substrate

Since the bitumen hardener was specially developed for the sandroplast silo coating, please refer to the product data sheet of the sandroplast silo coating for further information.

Processing

To optimally prepare the bitumen hardener, mix it thoroughly with the sandroplast bitumen silo coating in a ratio of 3 parts by volume of bitumen silo coating to 1 part by volume of sandroplast bitumen hardener. Use a slow-running, mechanically operated stirrer for this. It is recommended to transfer the mixture to a separate container rather than processing directly from the delivery container. Adding the hardener makes the bitumen coating slightly more liquid and facilitates processing. Note that the finished mixture must be processed within two hours, as storage is not possible.

For even application, it is recommended to apply the finished coating from bottom to top on the surface to be coated.

For an existing and well-preserved old bitumen coating, it is recommended to apply two thin coats. However, for a new installation, you should follow the specific instructions for the bitumen coating. For silos for biogas plants, three topcoats with hardener are required. Before recoating, already painted silos must be thoroughly cleaned down to the pores. For annual recoating, a single follow-up coat is usually sufficient.

Let each coat dry thoroughly for 6 to 12 hours. Before filling the silo, you should wait at least 3 to 4 days to ensure optimal curing. Freshly applied coatings can be damaged or washed off in heavy rain.

The optimal processing temperature is between +5 °C and +25 °C. Mixed material must be processed within approximately 2 hours; later storage is not possible.

IMPORTANT: In enclosed spaces or containers, respiratory protection is required if ventilation is insufficient. Please note the longer drying times and the need for forced ventilation. The processor is obliged to check the suitability and application possibilities for the intended purpose.
