Paste-like, solvent-based and low-odor sealing compound based on bitumen.
This paste-like sealing compound is excellently suited for producing seamless and durable coatings. It delivers impressive results both for new waterproofing and for the renovation of roofs. Applicable on bitumen roofing membranes, metal substrates and mineral surfaces, it offers an effective and permanent solution for all your waterproofing needs.
It is important to note that sandroplast Surface Sealant is not resistant to permanent exposure to solvents, fuels or oils.
The sandroplast Surface Sealant offers varying drying times under different weather and substrate conditions, which can be significantly reduced under optimal conditions. With its excellent adhesion on various surfaces, it ensures reliable and durable waterproofing. Thanks to the diverse application possibilities, the product can be used flexibly.
This sealing compound is applied cold and only develops its full material properties after complete drying. After curing, it is waterproof, frost-resistant and UV-resistant, remaining permanently stable even in adverse weather conditions such as rain.
Furthermore, it impresses with its thixotropic consistency, which enables easy application. Its outstanding elasticity and crack-bridging properties make it particularly resistant to mechanical stress. Even at low temperatures, it remains flexible and reliable thanks to its high heat resistance.
The substrate must be dry, clean, load-bearing and grease-free, and must not have any loose components or defective concrete and plaster areas. Cracks and holes must be repaired with suitable material.
Blisters and waves in the roofing membrane surface to be coated must be cut out and properly patched. Smaller cracks and defects must be filled with sandroplast filler compound, possibly with the incorporation of sandroplast glass silk fabric.
A bitumen primer is generally not required, but for optimal adhesion on concrete, masonry and plaster, the use of sandroplast primer is recommended. This primer ensures even deeper anchoring and thus guarantees significantly improved adhesion on the mentioned substrates. The primer must be completely dry before Surface Sealant is applied as a sealing compound.
Since the product contains solvents, it is advisable to check compatibility with the substrate before application.
The sandroplast Surface Sealant is applied evenly to the substrate after thorough stirring. Use at least two coats, which are applied with a brush, rubber squeegee or suitable application device. Ensure that the brush strokes run parallel. The second coat may only be applied when the first is completely dry. This is usually possible after one day, depending on weather conditions.
For connections and on rust-prone surfaces, such as wooden roofs or lightweight steel roofs, it is necessary to incorporate the sandroplast glass silk fabric. In these areas, it is recommended to first prepare the material thinly, insert the fabric and press it down. It is then fixed by brushing over it again.
When using sandroplast Surface Sealant, it must be ensured that the roof construction meets the building physics requirements of the respective structure as well as the principles of flat roof guidelines.
For membranes with coarse chippings and raw felt membranes as well as for roof slopes of more than 3°, there is a risk of moisture entrapment. Therefore, a bitumen roofing membrane should be applied at selected points as a vapor pressure equalization layer before coating.
The sandroplast Surface Sealant contains solvents that can attack polystyrene rigid foam. Therefore, for renovation measures with improved thermal insulation, only roll membranes with solvent-resistant insulation materials such as polyurethane or mineral fiber should be used.
It is important to note that freshly applied coats can be damaged or washed off in heavy rain. The optimal processing temperature is between +5 °C and +35 °C.
IMPORTANT: For outdoor use only! The processor is obliged to check the suitability and application possibilities for the intended purpose.
Material consumption is at least 2 coats of 1.5 kg/m² each, depending on roof slope and application. For roof slopes between 1.5° and 3°, the sandroplast glass silk fabric must also be incorporated.
